Tóm tắt: | This study investigates the impact of TikTok videos on enhancing English speaking skills among students at Tay Do University in Can Tho City, Vietnam. Despite their ability to read and write, many Vietnamese students struggle with speaking English. With the rise of digital tools in education, TikTok has become a popular platform for language learning, offering diverse and engaging content. This study, titled “The Impact of TikTok Videos on Improving Students’ Speaking Skills at a University in Can Tho City,” aims to explore the advantages of utilizing TikTok videos for the enhancement of English speaking proficiency. The research involved 66 English-major juniors from classes 16A and 16B at Tay Do University. Through a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data from questionnaires and interviews, the study identifies several factors contributing to speaking skill development via TikTok. These factors include individual aspects such as increased motivation, reduced anxiety, and enhanced confidence and creativity; environmental factors like exposure to authentic language use and interactive feedback; technological benefits, including accessibility, convenience, and content variety; and pedagogical elements involving teacher engagement and curriculum integration. The findings provide comprehensive insights into how TikTok can be effectively leveraged to overcome the challenges faced by Vietnamese students in improving their English speaking skills. |
