Abstract: In the age of ever advancing knowledge. In order to simplify learning for learners, instructors continually create new teaching strategies. Similarly, learning English and improving listening and speaking skills by watching English movies is becoming more prevalent in classroom settings. Furthermore, there are several posivitve effects that students may have when doing so. Therefore, the research entitled "An investigation into the effect of watching movies in English on improving English-majored freshmens' listening and speaking skills at a university in Can Tho" was investigated to ascertain the positive effects of watching English movies on their improvements. In this study, questionnaires and interview papers were used as the main instruments to collect the data. The participants were 100 who are Englishmajored freshmen at a university in Can Tho. Based on research findings, the positive effects of watching English movies on improving listening and speaking skills are shown by their interest in it, the development of listening and speaking skills through watching English movies, its flexibility, and the motivation they have. It is expected that this study will assist English-majored freshmen at a university in Can Tho identifying and applying this learning approach in their educational process, especially, improving their listening and speaking skills toward studying English through English movies.
