Abstract: It might be agreed upon by most people that one of the most crucial factors in learning a foreign language is motivation. The current study examined the factors influencing Tay Do University students' willingness to learn English as well as the motivational differences between English and non-English majors. The 87 participants were all TDU students, with 49 majoring in English and 38 majoring in non-English fields including Aquaculture, Marketing, Information technology, and International business. These research participants completed questionnaires that contained a number of comments pertaining to the previously stated criteria. After then, all of the information gathered from the two instruments stated above was examined. The results of the current study suggested that there are factors that encourage first-year students to learn English. Parental, environmental, teacher’s and intrinsic (personal) factors were examined. It is intended that this research will aid teachers as well as students in their pursuit of English language proficiency.
