Abstract: English is one of the three main subjects in all schools in Vietnam, besides mathematics and literature. Because of the importance of English, the use of English fluently, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, is a common goal for all English learners. The use of English idioms and proverbs in life, especially when applying them to express human emotions, is a great help in achieving that goal. Therefore, this study, entitled "A study on English idioms and proverbs expressing human feelings and emotions" was done to investigate the way idioms and proverbs in English convey the feelings and emotions of the speakers or writers at Tay Do University. As a result, students will be able to better understand idioms and proverbs and their usage, which will help them improve their knowledge of related topics and apply them to communication in their daily lives. The subjects of this study include 113 English-majored students at Tay Do University, including 33 males and 80 females. The main research instruments that will be used to collect the data are interview papers and questionnaires. This is a combination of qualitative and quantitative research. The findings of this research will be analyzed to point out opinions on the background knowledge, perception, difficulties, and importance of English idioms and proverbs for English-majored students at Tay Do University.
