Abstract: Listening plays a significant role in daily communication and the educational process. However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, most of the students at Tay Do University encountered difficulty when learning this subject. Although listening is a fundamental skill in the process of acquiring a language, it is deemed one of the hardest skills for learners to master. Consequently, the research “An investigation into common difficulties in listening of English-majored sophomores at Tay Do University” was conducted with the purpose of helping students recognize their problems in listening skills. As a part of the study, 75 sophomores from the course English 15 have been selected as the main participants. The questionnaire and the interview were employed as two primary research instruments to analyze the data amassed. The findings of the study demonstrate that English-majored sophomores have been facing difficulties in linguistics, including vocabulary, pronunciation, accent, intonation, background knowledge, the length and speech rate, and psychological obstacles. One more notable purpose of this study is that thanks to the results, students can solve and overcome their problems. Hence, they can study this subject better.
